Teatru Manoel is currently seeking to fill the position of Executive Officer (Stage Artist & Stage Crew) which forms part of the productions department of Teatru Manoel. The Executive Officer (Stage Artist & Stage Crew) will act as a liaison amongst the various individuals involved in Theatre production.
The successful candidate will be responsible to take on the artistic requirements of the productions: painting and scenic renderings of the build sets and backdrops, making drawings and artist’s renderings of the various sets, model-building, including 3-D modelling, prop-building and puppet-building. Furthermore, the Executive Officer (Stage Artist & Stage Crew) must participate in the building, mounting and dismantling of sets and props at times as stipulated by the Manager (Stage Facilities) and the Artistic Director. The successful candidate will also be responsible to assist with moving set pieces such as scenery, furniture, and props as well as assist with handling ropes, wires, and other rigging during rehearsals and live performance as instructed by the Manager (Stage Facilities) and the Artistic Director.
This post requires the successful candidate to work during the evenings, weekends, and public holidays. The successful candidate will be working under the supervision of the Manager (Stage Facilities) and in close collaboration with the Artistic Director and the Chief Executive Officer.

Stage Artist Responsibilities:
Participate in meetings with theatre producers, directors, set and costume designers to take briefs for the various theatre productions.
Make drawings, artistic renderings and models of the required sets and set pieces for theatre productions, following the directions of the Manager (Stage Facilities) and the Artistic Director.
Assist in the procurement process of paints and other materials for stage decoration
Manufacture, shape, carve and paint props and puppets for theatre productions.
Design and paint full or part cloth backdrops as required for theatre productions.
Design, programme and build 3-D models for set models and props
Ensure all painting tools and equipment are maintained and in excellent working order.
Adopts a flexible approach to ensure that all deadlines are met.
Participates in the mounting and dismantling of sets and props at times as stipulated by the Manager (Stage Facilities) and the Artistic Director.
Take a leading role in the setup of stages, sets and other setups and coordinate together with the stage crew team under the supervision of the Manager (Stage Facilities) and the Artistic Director.
Organize the stage painting store and do all necessary works related to store keeping.
Keeping a registry of the tools and take good care of all the tools and equipment.
Taking care of the inventory of all scenery pieces, backdrops, drawings, renderings and models, etc.
Create a register and control the materials used for every set.
Take note of expenses related to every production and present a performance report to the Manager (Stage Facilities) and the Artistic Director.
Follows the professional instructions by any foreign or local director working in the Theatre or outside of the theatre as required.
Takes initiatives, within parameters agreed with the Manager (Stage Facilities), the Artistic Director and the Chief Executive Officer.

Stage Crew Responsibilities:
Monitoring health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace.
Support the Manager (Stage Facilities) in the daily operations.
Ensure the cost-effective use of materials, especially by means of recycling.
Present a smart and alert appearance as befits the Theatre at all times.
Assist the Stage Crew team performing various tasks during live productions.
Assist with moving set pieces such as scenery, furniture, and props.
Assist with handling ropes, wires, and other rigging during rehearsals and live performance.
Attend meetings, conferences, and press releases in Malta and abroad as requested by Teatru
Attend training in Malta and abroad as requested by Teatru Manoel.
Meeting with clients and working with colleagues across all departments.
Performs any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Manager (Stage Facilities), the Artisitc Director and the CEO.

Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesÂ
A recognised Bachelor’s degree at MQF Level 6 (subject to a minimum of 180 ECTS/ECVET credits, or equivalent) in Fine Arts or Theatre Studies or Creative Arts or a comparable professional qualification, plus two (2) years relevant work experience.
Good Police Conduct.
Familiar with the use of computer drawing and modelling programmes: including ACAD, Photoshop, Sketch-up and 3-D max.
Demonstrates familiarity with the logistics of a theatrical production to ensure that it is delivered exactly to the director’s requirements.
Proficient in stage building design.
Have a thorough understanding of all applicable safety regulations.
Efficient and self-motivated with excellent planning skills, with the ability to deal with multiple tasks at once.
Ability to act on own initiative but also to work as part of team and build strong working relationships with different individuals.
Ability to work under pressure, with a positive and creative attitude towards problem solving.
A clear commitment to and knowledge of the work of Teatru Manoel.
Exceptionally organized and methodical, with strong attention to detail.
