The MPO presents a captivating programme of mystical atmospheres and neoclassical elegance, directed by Quentin Hindley. Camille Pépin’s Vajrayana opens, with radiant, meditative textures inspired by Tibetan Buddhism. Principal horn of the MPO Etienne Cutajar and tenor Mark Milhofer join forces in Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, a luminous setting of haunting poetry. Poulenc’s charming Sinfonietta brims with rhythmic vitality and French esprit. Closing with grace and poignancy is Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, a tribute to fallen friends shaped by Baroque forms and impressionistic colour.
