Back to What's on

Producer:Malta Society of Arts
Venue:Palazzo De La Salle
Price: €15

Featuring the Ġużè Camilleri Quintet.

Ġużè Camilleri has completed his Master’s degree in Ethnomusicology with thesis focusing on George Caruana, aka Tony Carr, a Maltese drummer and percussionist with a remarkable career working with distinguished world-renowned artists.

This concert portrays an extract from this research thesis, together with musical arrangements and stories. The music to be performed consists of original compositions written by Maltese jazz pioneers, with particular focus on the first jazz trio in Malta, arranged for quintet by Dominic Galea. The stories presented are excerpts from the same research project for an upcoming documentary entitled Strait Street to Abbey Road. Adapted for screenplay and directed by Cedric Vella, this feature film is based on Tony’s biography researched and written by Ġużè Camilleri.
