Under the baton of Michael Laus, the MPO opens the dynamic programme with Beethoven’s powerful Leonore No. 3, a dramatic overture to his opera Fidelio that captures themes of courage and redemption. Francis Camilleri takes the stage as soloist for Joseph Vella’s bold and expressive Piano Concerto, Op. 41, an engaging work full of rhythmic vitality and lyrical depth. A moving homage to faith and heritage, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5, known as the “Reformation”, unites spiritual depth with orchestral brilliance.
