The Senior Executive Finance reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for all aspects of finance at Teatru Manoel, from transaction processing to budgeting. Working with the CEO, the Senior Executive Finance will be responsible for the provision of timely and accurate financial information within Teatru Manoel and externally, as well as providing key input into financial decision making and strategy. The Senior Executive Finance will be responsible for robust and efficient financial processes and systems to deliver the highest standards of service.

Responsibilities:

Strategic financial management and decision making

  • Support the CEO with excellent financial information, analysis and advice to drive decision making.
  • Assist the CEO in the preparation of annual and long-term financial plans.
  • Ensure that legislation, regulation, policies and established internal control procedures are adhered to and that monitoring is properly implemented in all processes assigned.
  • Keeps abreast with accounting standards, financial legislation, Government policies, accounting systems, procedures and applications, and following training as directed.

Forecasting and budgeting

  • Assist the CEO in the annual budgeting process.
  • Lead the budget process and meeting with the coordinators of all functions, to review current financial position and re-forecast for the rest of the financial year.
  • Lead on cash flow planning and manage the overall cash flow with the CEO, ensuring adequate funds are available to settle liabilities as they fall due and that funds are invested in accordance with any agreed policy.

Accounting

  • Perform credit control activities including chasing of debtors and reconciliation of customer accounts.
  • Prepare and submit Capital expenditure claims and Tranche funding requests.
  • Responsible for the proper disbursement, monitoring, evaluation and control of financial resources and funding allocated to Public Sector Entities, through various mechanisms, in relation to the Public Sector.
  • Managing the day-today operations for the accounting Department at Teatru Manoel, including the monthly, quarterly and yearly closing process of Teatru Manoel and making sure reporting deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts to the CEO and Board of Management.
  • Prepare Teatru Manoel’s end of year accounts.
  • Liaise with external advisers to ensure that Teatru Manoel obligations are met with regard to VAT, payroll taxation and other applicable regulations.
  • Be the main point of contact for Teatru Manoel’s external auditors and lead the Finance team during on-site audit work.
  • Review and monitor accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with accounting policies.
  • Responsible for the general ledger, sub-ledgers and reconciliations, as well as assets and inventories of Teatru Manoel,
  • Liaise with auditors, manage the audit process and preparation of statutory reporting for Teatru Manoel.

Financial systems, processes and controls

  • Ensure that finance processes and systems are fit for purpose in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, business support, reporting and effective controls.
  • Act as an authorised signatory and process financial transactions/transfers as required.

Other duties

  • Attend Teatru Manoel events and represent Teatru Manoel as appropriate.
  • Any other duties as requested by the Chief Executive Officer.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
  • in possession of a recognised qualification at MQF Level 4 (subject to a minimum of 120 ECTS credits, or equivalent*) in Business Management or Business Administration or Economics or Banking and Finance or Accountancy or a recognised comparable professional Diploma at MQF Level 4 in Accountancy, or in relevant areas as determined by Management.

OR

  • in possession of a recognised Diploma at MQF Level 5 (subject to a minimum of 60 ECTS credits, or equivalent*) in Business Management or Business Administration or Economics or Banking and Finance or Accountancy or a recognised comparable professional Diploma at MQF Level 5 in Accountancy, or in relevant areas as determined by Management.

*A recognised qualification comparable to 120/60 ECTS credits, as applicable, is only accepted subject to an MQRIC formal recognition statement being submitted with the application (subject to the provisions of clause 5.4 of the General Provisions document).​

OR

  • (i) in possession of two (2) subjects at Advanced Level (one of which must include a pass in Accountancy) and three (3) subjects at Intermediate Matriculation Level (one of which must include a pass in Pure Mathematics), or a recognised comparable qualification.

OR

  • (ii) in possession of three (3) subjects at Advanced level (one of which must include a pass in Accountancy).

 

  • Good police conduct
  • ICDL Certificate will be considered as an asset;
  • Pro-active and able to work on own initiative;
  • Strong Maltese and English language skills;
  • Knowledge of the cultural field;
