Unlocking the Power of No to Say Yes

In a world of “Yes”, “Can Do” and “Down for Whatever”, we can often overlook the importance of recognizing our own boundaries and communicating them to others. Balancing an open-minded spirit with strong boundaries can seem contradictory, but learning how to communicate to others what isn’t okay will make everyone feel better about sharing and discovering what IS okay. Establishing boundaries gives us greater freedom. In this workshop we’ll discuss how to learn about your own and others’ boundaries, and how honouring and recognising these allow everyone to feel more at ease in the creative process.

We will also learn what this means in a rehearsal space and on stage and delve deeper into the subject of consent, including what is consensual behaviour in auditions, in rehearsal and during a performance. We will explore intimacy safety principles and how these can be applied to our work to create moments of intimacy that are believable, authentic and consensual.

This workshop is ideal for existing artists who would like to develop skills and tools to help them speak out, reach out and work in an environment where boundaries are respected.
