External Call for Applications – Executive Officer (Stage Artist & Stage Crew)

Teatru Manoel qed joħroġ sejħa għal applikazzjonijiet minn kandidati addattati għal Executive Officer (Stage Artist & Stage Crew) biex jingħaqad mad-Dipartiment tal-Produzzjonijiet. L-Executive Officer (Stage Artist & Stage Crew) se jkun qed jaħdem ma’ bosta persuni involuti fi produzzjonijiet teatrali.

Il-kandidat magħżul se jkun responsabbli li jieħu ħsieb ir-rekwiżiti artistiċi tal-produzzjonijiet: tpinġija u bini ta’ xenarji tas-settijiet u l-isfondi, jagħmel tpinġijiet u rendimenti artistiċi ta’ settijiet differenti, bini ta’ mudelli, inkluż mudelli 3D, bini ta’ oġġetti u pupazzi. Barra minn hekk, l-Executive Officer (Stage Artist & Stage Crew) irid jipparteċipa fil-bini, l-armar u ż-żarmar tas-settijiet u l-props fi żmien stipulati mill-Maniġer (Stage Facilities) u d-Direttur Artistiku.

Il-kandidat magħżul ikun ukoll responsabbli li jassisti fit-tmexxija ta’ partijiet tas-sett bħal xenarju, għamara u props kif ukoll jassisti fit-tħaddim ta’ ħbula, wajers u tagħmir ieħor waqt ir-rehearsals u l-prestazzjonijiet kif ordnat mill-Maniġer (Stage Facilities) u d-Direttur Artistiku.

Il-kandidat magħżul se jkun meħtieġ jaħdem filgħaxijiet, fi tmiem il-ġimgħa u matul il-festi pubbliċi taħt is-superviżjoni tal-Maniġer (Stage Facilities) u f’kollaborazzjoni mill-qrib mad-Direttur Artistiku u l-Kap Eżekuttiv.

Responsabbiltajiet ta’ Stage Artist:

• Participate in meetings with theatre producers, directors, set and costume designers to take briefs for the various theatre productions.

• Make drawings, artistic renderings and models of the required sets and set pieces for theatre productions, following the directions of the Manager (Stage Facilities) and the Artistic Director.

• Assist in the procurement process of paints and other materials for stage decoration

• Manufacture, shape, carve and paint props and puppets for theatre productions.

• Design and paint full or part cloth backdrops as required for theatre productions.

• Design, programme and build 3-D models for set models and props

• Ensure all painting tools and equipment are maintained and in excellent working order.

• Adopts a flexible approach to ensure that all deadlines are met.

• Participates in the mounting and dismantling of sets and props at times as stipulated by the Manager (Stage Facilities) and the Artistic Director.

• Take a leading role in the setup of stages, sets and other setups and coordinate together with the stage crew team under the supervision of the Manager (Stage Facilities) and the Artistic Director.

• Organize the stage painting store and do all necessary works related to store keeping.

• Keeping a registry of the tools and take good care of all the tools and equipment.

• Taking care of the inventory of all scenery pieces, backdrops, drawings, renderings and models, etc.

• Create a register and control the materials used for every set.

• Take note of expenses related to every production and present a performance report to the Manager (Stage Facilities) and the Artistic Director.

• Follows the professional instructions by any foreign or local director working in the Theatre or outside of the theatre as required.

• Takes initiatives, within parameters agreed with the Manager (Stage Facilities), the Artistic Director and the Chief Executive Officer.

Responsabbiltajiet ta’ Stage Crew:

• Monitoring health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace.

• Support the Manager (Stage Facilities) in the daily operations.

• Ensure the cost-effective use of materials, especially by means of recycling.

• Present a smart and alert appearance as befits the Theatre at all times.

• Assist the Stage Crew team performing various tasks during live productions.

• Assist with moving set pieces such as scenery, furniture, and props.

• Assist with handling ropes, wires, and other rigging during rehearsals and live performance.

• Attend meetings, conferences, and press releases in Malta and abroad as requested by Teatru

• Attend training in Malta and abroad as requested by Teatru Manoel.

• Meeting with clients and working with colleagues across all departments.

• Performs any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Manager (Stage Facilities), the Artisitc Director and the CEO.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

A recognised Bachelor’s degree at MQF Level 6 (subject to a minimum of 180 ECTS/ECVET credits, or equivalent) in Fine Arts or Theatre Studies or Creative Arts or a comparable professional qualification, plus two (2) years relevant work experience. 

• Good Police Conduct.
• Familiar with the use of computer drawing and modelling programmes: including ACAD, Photoshop, Sketch-up and 3-D max.
• Demonstrates familiarity with the logistics of a theatrical production to ensure that it is delivered exactly to the director’s requirements.
• Proficient in stage building design.
• Have a thorough understanding of all applicable safety regulations.
• Efficient and self-motivated with excellent planning skills, with the ability to deal with multiple tasks at once.
• Ability to act on own initiative but also to work as part of team and build strong working relationships with different individuals.
• Ability to work under pressure, with a positive and creative attitude towards problem solving.
• A clear commitment to and knowledge of the work of Teatru Manoel.
• Exceptionally organized and methodical, with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent spoken and written English and Maltese.
